I captured this image in the 1970s along the Northern California coastline, far north of San Francisco. This is the first time it’s being seen by the public and offered for sale.

The previous image I announced was WILD ROSES — a painting from a photo I captured of two roses, next to the cabin, but far from the rest. I wanted to include a wide shot of the location to show the cabin. I was very focussed on WILD ROSES and I had not evaluated the wide shot beyond using it as an insert for the story.

When I published the post on WILD ROSES, I received a positive comment about the inserted wide photo from TABS, a good friend and customer. After taking a much different look at the wide shot, I began the detailed process of preparing it for the finest printing, a tedious process I do to prepare all my images.

ROSE CABIN is now available as either a fine art giclée print, or printed on canvas.

Please CLICK HERE for more information.

Thank you TABS. I had my eyes checked and I’m also getting new glasses. That may allow me to see things differently, too.

WILD ROSES is a painting I created from a photograph I captured in 1976. It was discovered on one of my photo trips to find the forgotten, the different, those uniquely special subjects that could never be planned for … but only found. Roses can be found anywhere, but not like these.

These roses had literally covered an abandoned cabin of some lifetime ago, high on a cliff overlooking the Pacific shoreline, no more than 100M from the cold Pacific waters. Finding the shack was pure luck, though I don’t recall how exactly I came upon it.

These two roses struck me with a sense of romance, since they were further away from the rest of the roses, but side-by-side. This is the very first time this image is available as a limited-edition print, <strike>and with Valentine’s Day looming, I wanted to make my own gift by offering them at an initial price of 43-48% off (the actual percentage varies by size — the larger the print, the higher the discount).</strike>

What are Giclée Prints?

Giclée (zhee-CLAY) prints are superior in every visual way to standard, silver-halide, photographic prints that have not changed substantially in the past 30-40 years. Giclée technological improvements make leaps-and-bounds yearly, the same as any other high-demand technology.

My chosen printer is Fine Art America, <strike>and the prices already reflect the discount.</strike>

My Choice of Frames, or just the Print only?

You bet! You can frame it anyway you’d like, with literally thousands of options, or you can order just the print if you prefer to do the framing yourself. But if you like gallery framing (as above) such as I do, then you can simply use the information below if that particular print size is acceptable.

Prints for purchase will now be in one place, and the print house I selected can custom-frame and ship world-wide.

This new gallery will showcase only the photographs and photo-illustrations that I currently have available for sale. My prints can be purchased without framing, but I believe you’ll see the savings and simplicity of ordering your print custom-framed, and ready-to-hang.

I will create a separate opt-in mailing list for the gallery, which will cover only information related to prints and limited-time specials on prints. The specials will only be available to those on the mailing list … so, when I have the mailing list form completed, I will announce it on this list.

The canine model is Kelsey, and currently my oldest rescue. She was born in late 1998, and raised in the wild for her first six to eight months. I adopt dogs that are considered un-adoptable. A challenge, yes. Rewards unbelievable.

But I’m sure you’ll be the hero of the day for that mom-to-be, and quite possibly a few additional days, as well. Lucky for you, the shirt comes in multiple colors and styles.

Check out all my apparel and gift options at: CafePress.com/Matre

And if your interest is in fine art prints, please browse my online gallery located at Matre.com/gallery-store.

All purchases come with a full 30-day, money-back guarantee.

I recently switched printing and framing fulfillment companies — from one in Seattle to a very proactive POD (print on demand) and high-quality operation, known as Fine Art America.

I call it a buyers’ gallery since a buyer has nothing to risk — if they are not happy with their purchase, they can return it within 30 days for a FULL refund — including reimbursement for shipping both ways. I know of no other POD offering such a guarantee.

With over 13,000 artists represented, I was humbled to be mentioned three times in a newsletter which seems to come out about once a year. My artist-colleague from England, Elizabeth Edwards, was also mentioned for an article she wrote.

Clicking on the FAA logo will open a window highlighting the my attributions, as well as showing (along the right side) how long the newsletter is — very long.

My FAA Gallery Store is easily found by clicking Store in the menu above. My article referred to in the newsletter is about Digitizing Paintings for Making Prints.

And Ms. Edwards’ great interview is truly worth the read.

For a limited time, get 20% OFF Lar Matré prints, AND 20% off custom framing.

From now through January 5, 2009 10PM PST, receive 20% off any size of Matré prints through ImageKind, as well as 20% off the framing itself.

On each of my prints, I have chosen a size, and selected a custom mat and frame combination. I suggest you begin by viewing my suggested framing, since it is classic gallery framing, simply, and not very expensive to begin with. The samples at right show my suggested framing.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that if you choose a larger or smaller print size, you will need to adjust the mat size accordingly — it will not change based on the print size. I have included a link on most of the pages of prints, in the right hand column, helping you figure that.

But I would be more than willing to calculate it for you. Simply contacting me using the mail form under the Contact menu above, include the print name and size. I will get back to you with the specifics.

PLEASE NOTE: The print prices have already been reduced, but you must add the Promo Code Groove20 to see the frame discount appear.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

View all Matré Prints

NOTE: This promotion has expired, but there will be more. Register on my “First-to-Know” list and be notified of all future promotions. Never any spam, your privacy is assured, cancel anytime.

For a very limited period of time (in this instance, just until late tonight), I will reduce the price of this specific print by 50% … no matter what size is purchased. I can only control the price of my print, not the cost of the frames.

But what I can do is run my print specials to coincide with framing promotions. And that’s what I’m doing right now.

Until tonight ONLY, September 23 at 10PM PDT (1AM EDT), the custom framer is offering 20% off custom framing, and I’m offering 50% off The Business District (pictured above). Although we has over a million framing combinations, I prefer straight gallery framing — and that’s exactly what you see here. A black wood frame, with one off-white mat. The mat sizes I specify are wider than most people are accustomed to, but that’s what you’ll typically see in galleries. What also balances my mats are the sizes: three sides are equal (left, top, and right) but I always make the bottom mat just a bit wider.

50% off the print and 20% off custom framing — you must enter discount code FALL2008

This page will provide needed information.

Check out the Business District NOW.

My Wheelies design, which goes back to 1982, is still one of my most popular sellers.

I did some new designs for organic vendors at Farmers Markets — FarmersMarket.com — allowing customers to identify the different types of growers, and their methods.

And lastly, there’s the “i sin !” design. It was originally an idea I created for racing, as the letters are an acronym for “it’s speed I need.” But that didn’t work out well, and some folks said I should do something else with it. So, for now, this is something else.

I came to realize that it is appropriate for anyone to wear, since there is no one in existence who is free of sin … or so I’m told. So, I created two versions: one which simply says: i sin ! … and the other which includes a tag line just below it: AND SO DO YOU (for those who like company).

But since you are one of those sinners, buy a shirt and you will be cleansed. Currently, I’m working on a bulk quantity discount for the Bush administration.

As always, they come with a 30-day, money-back guarantee if you do not feel saved.

They are available through CafePress.

I captured this image in January 1981, while spending about a week walking all over Manhattan, for the sole purpose of capturing the city as I saw it.This photograph was taken inside the main area of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. On display is a structure from Egypt, disassembled there stone-by-stone, then reassembled in the great room of the Met.

Please take a moment to visit my gallery at Imagekind to see my other new additions.

All who have purchased my prints from Imagekind have had nothing but praise, not only for the quality of the fine art print, but equally for the quality of the framing, as well as the extra effort taken to package it for shipping.

Everything carries a full 30-day, money-back guarantee. Today would be a great day to buy yourself a gift.
