Seems as if anyone can tack the word Consultant on their business card now ... but what extensive knowledge or experience is it based on?

• Commercial Photography From an interest I developed at the age of 12, photography has been a life-long passion. I was hired for my first staff photography position while still in college, using 4x5s and 6x7s in the studio, while adding 35mm when shooting outdoors. Early on, I was recognized for my diversity, being just as comfortable and proficient in the studio as I was on the edge of a racetrack shooting high-speed action.
  
  A few years ago, one of my race images was rated the top action photograph, by my peers, on photo.net — a site with millions of images. Since my photography has always been very personal, I was never one to enter contests, though I have entered two. The first one I entered, over 30 years ago, was a national competition sponsored by Nikon. I received a fourth place out of 34,000 entries (fourth place means I was the third loser ;).
  
  At the urging of some friends, the second contest I entered was in 2006 — competitions have really changed since the 70s. As most are now, this one was open to international entries, and sponsored by many companies related to the photographic industry.
  
  This time, I entered five photographs. Four were winners — placing second through fourth in their respective categories. Since then, I went back to my old ways and haven't entered any others.

So far, this information is just a small taste. My experience spans what some only dream of. I call it luck ... being in the right place at the right time. But it was my passion that put me in that place to begin with.
